The Obanla of Ilupeju-Ekiti,

The IDA Executives,

Members of Apeju-in-Council,

All youth Branch Chairmen/representatives,

All Quarters Youth Coordinators,

The Electoral Committee,

Members of the outgoing Executives,

Members of the incoming Executives,

Fellow IYDA Members,

Ladies and Gentle Men,

All other protocols are duly and respectfully observed;

It is with a great sense of honour and humility that I stand before you all on this day to take the oath of office for the second term as National President of Ilupeju Youth Development Association (IYDA), it is a great privilege and esteem veneration to my personality for you all to count me worthy for this great task of serving the entire Ilupeju youths and by extension, Ilupeju community as the national youth president. This, I count as a great prestige which I’ll never take for granted.

This is a moment of great significance for our dear town particularly in the aspect of youth development as we come together to reaffirm our commitment to those values and ethics that have put IYDA at the forefront of youth bodies in Ekiti State and beyond.

As your President, I stand here humbled by the trust and confidence you have placed in me. I understand that as youths, the strength and the engine room of every society, the challenges we face are significantly numerous, but I also believe that the opportunities before us are even greater. This is a familiar terrain we had walked in the past four years and with your individual and collective supports, we were able to achieve a lot which cut across infrastructural development, human capacity development, youth empowerments, educational advancement, sports and various community services and engagements.

 More explicitly, within the past four years of our first administration, we were able to build a modern and functional ICT centre, built five lock-up shops and facilitated another set of five lock up shops (built by the present honourable member representing Ekiti north federal constituency one). We were able to also train and empower some youths in nylon and soap production, gave two grinding machines to youths across the two political wards of the town, disbursed close to four hundred thousand naira to empower some selected widows from each quarters of the town in small and medium scale enterprises, this is exclusive of numerous hospital bills paid to assist many of our youths who could not afford their hospital bills.

In the area of education advancement, during the first term of this administration, more than twenty students’ NECO fees were paid, while more than fifteen students enjoyed our free JAMB registration scheme. Equally important to note is that this administration during its first term, was able to secure employment for more than forty (40) of our youths; twenty-six in the federal civil service, sixteen in the state civil service, while five are presently working as junior staffs at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE).We sincerely appreciate Mrs. Modupe Kolawole, Mr. Seyi Ayeleso, Hon. Sunday Jejelowo, Hon. Yemi Osatuyi, Mr. Sola Ogunmiluyi, Barr. Ayodeji Ajiboye, Mr. Rotimi Ogunseesin, many other political office holders and prominent individuals who were influential and instrumental to these employment opportunities.

Through our community services and engagement, this administration had successfully modernized and coordinate the annual Ilupeju inter-quarters December football competition which had advertently given birth to the formation of Ilupeju football team; “Ilupeju Pillars” (a team formed and fully sponsored by the IDA through the president; Dr Femi Babalola) which had been representing the town very well and making us proud in different competitions both within and outside the state. It is also chiefly to note that under this administration, through our community services and engagement, we equally organized a campaign on drug abuse round the town in which NDLEA commandant was present to lecture our youths on the danger of smoking and usage of hard drugs, this to a large extent reduced the rampant rate of hard drugs intake by our youths. In the same vein during this administration, Ilupeju youth development association had spread its tentacles and wings not only within Ekiti State, but even outside the state to many southwestern states of the country.

Therefore, it is safe to say that this administration in the past four years had touched every major aspect that affects youths’ life which had been largely made possible through your undaunting supports and confidence you have in us. However we are poised and ready to do more during this second term that you just handed to me because I have no doubt that you will give me even a greater support and confidence going forward in the task of building a youth body that we’ll all be proud of.

In doing these, our main focus during this second term will majorly be on human capital development. I am undoubtedly convinced that the best and most lasting legacy we can leave behind while leaving this office won’t be in the numbers of building or shops we were able to build, but in numbers of life we are able to positively touch and improved. Hence in this second term, we shall focus more on empowering our youths with various skills and most importantly, working assiduously to ensure that many of our teaming youths who are graduate of various disciplines and professions are gainfully employed. Ilupeju want to have her sons and daughters in various spectrums of the country from military, to paramilitary, oil and gas, academics, banking and finance, real estate, federal and state civil service, import and export and lots more. Though the task looks so daunting, but we’re undaunted and resolute in our resolves.

To achieve these targets, we shall be working so keenly and closely than before with all authorities in the town, from our most reverend Apeju of Ilupeju-Ekiti, the IDA national executives, the Obanla, Apeju-in-council, all our political office holders, all IDA branches, IYDA branches, all Ilupeju sons and daughters both at home and in diaspora, and every other individuals that is poised to contribute to our yearnings of putting Ilupeju-Ekiti on a greater pedestrian by investing in her future through the development of youths' capacities. I am aware that this will cost a lot of sacrifice, particularly on the parts of us the incoming executives.

In the outgone administration of fourteen executive members, only less than five were functional. Such will not be condone during this second term, any member of the incoming administration who failed to act as expected of any IYDA executives shall be replaced without any hesitation, because there won’t be any room for rhetoric, excuses or complain from anyone who failed to perform his or her duties either as stipulated by the constitution or as assigned by the president. To ensure that more hands are on deck in a bid to achieve our targets, prompt, adequate and efficient running of this new administration I hereby appoint the following individuals who will work as aides to the president;

Comr. OLAJOBI Korede G. - Special Adviser on Public Communication and Student Matters

Mr. AYENI Olamide - Special Adviser on Media and Social Engagements

Mrs. JEMILEHIN Adenike Osakinle - Special Adviser on Youths in Diaspora

Mr. OGUNLEYE Stephen - Chief Protocol Officer

As I round off, I will like to appreciate everyone who’d been so instrumental to the success of today’s event, from the electoral committee who dedicated their invaluable time, efforts and resources to ensure that we had a smooth and rancor free election, to everyone who participated in ensuring that this inauguration is a success, I say thank you all.

It will be so inhumane and so ungrateful of me if I fail to appreciate the efforts and support of Ilupeju Development Association (IDA) National Executives, particularly the outgoing president Dr. Femi Babalola, who played an uncompromising fatherly roles throughout our first term, I have no doubt that the incoming IDA National Executives led by my daddy; Mr. Banji Ogungbe won’t be different, I am sure that we are going to enjoy even a greater level of support from you and your set of incoming executives. Equally worthy of mentioning is our royal father; the Apeju of Ilupeju-Ekiti, the Obanla, Apeju-in-council, past and present political and career office holders, Ilupeju sons and daughters in the Diaspora, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Ilupeju chapter and the entire Christian community, the chief Immam and the entire Muslim community, all traditional institutions in the town, the Egbeule and Egbesas, IDA and IYDA branches and various quarters coordinators and every other individuals who had contributed to this movement in the past four years till date, I say a big thank you, you’re my real support system. And to my darling wife; Mrs. Abosede Fagbemi, thank you for your understanding and love with which you’d tolerated me, you’re all my real MVP, without you, I would have failed. Thank you God bless. As we go again for the second term, undoubtedly there will be challenges, but I am convinced that our resolve, determination and zeal is greater than any challenges we may encounter and with your support we will surmount any mountain or obstacle.

Inseun o, Ulupeju a gbe a.
